“This is one way of SAC in recognizing
the efforts of our athletes,” said SAC
president Enrico C. Gabuya.

On top of the honor roll are motocross
patron Iluminado “Lou” Ornopia, pro
cager Dondon Hontiveros and cycling
benefactor Alan Choachuy.

Ornopia made a strong case for the
“Sportsman of the Year” award for
keeping the often forgotten sport of
motocross flourishing in the region with
the MS Motosuit Motocross Series.

Hontiveros did not also escape the
scrutinizing eyes of SAC, which will
bestow upon him the “Orlacsan Memorial
Award” for his magnanimous heart.

Given in memory of the late Orlando C.
Sanchez, an iconic figure in the annals
of Cebu sportswriting, the Orlacsan
Memorial Award is reserved for an
individual who has shown generosity to
others in need through sports.

Last year, Hontiveros organized two
charity basketball games. He brought
with him some of his close pals in the
PBA to take part in a fund-raising
activity for the benefit of the victims
