PFFL 2008 National Championships

Congratulations to both the Dark Angels and Pyroworks Rebels for winning the 2008 PFFL Nationals.

It was a fun day for everyone who showed up. First off were the Rogues vs the Dark Angels for the womens championships. Before kick off it was obvious that everyone was somewhat jittery and tense just looking at the rogues who seemed much bigger and more athletic than their counterparts. However, half way through the first half, it seemed obvious that the Cebu team clearly was above and beyond the talent level of the rogues and it was an easy win for the Dark Angels to claim their first National crown. With the way they are practicing and the way they are handled I am sure that is just the first of many national championships for them.

The rebels and the young guns was a totally different story. With the Young Guns experience and track record, it seemed that the Rebels were severely outclassed. However, the Rebels showed that they wanted it more. They struck first with a 40 yard touchdown pass by Kyle (after receiving a lateral) to YomYom. The back breaker turned out to be a Safety by the Pyro defense. The Guns did, however, still have a chance to win the game at the last few seconds but the Rebel defense came through to deliver the National Championship. Kudos to Brian and the Rebels for making Cebu proud.

And so it has been 2 years now that Both Mens and Womens teams from Cebu have held the National Titles. It seems that after a 6+ year head start for the PFFL, the CFFL has finally brought it's talent and skill levels at par with Manila!

Beer Pong

And when we are not playing basketball... well, we found a darn new sport. And it is pretty fun and anyone can try it too.... It's called beer pong.

It is very simple and easy to play. Here is a quick video clip of the rules.

All you need is plastic cups (22 pcs) a long table (at least 7ft long and 2 to 3 feet wide) and about 4 ping pong balls and tons of beer.

Believe me... it seems like a stupid boring game but once you try it, it becomes very challenging especially when you are drinking!

We will have beer pong games tomorrow Friday Jan 4 8pm at my lola's house (1 block away from my house) so if you are interested, text me... in case you guys don't have my number it is 091888harry (09188842779)

LaserArt

Well after watching so much basketball, me and some of the other sharks started getting the itch (we couldn't cut it in the intercity division) so we decided to join another local basketball league. Called the Baller's league and games are every sunday either here in lapu lapu or in Guadalupe Visayan Glass. It is all mostly sharks players too. I guess this is our way of trying to see how it feels to loose again (after hardly loosing in football and winning so much :) ). The probably is... we are almost halfway through the season and we still haven't lost. Maybe Baseball is next... We are not called the sharks tho, just plain laserart... no practicing either. To much pressure when we do start practicing.

Sharks in Retirement

Well after retiring from football, life did feel a bit boring. But not to worry... there was an upcoming inter city basketball and of course Lapu Lapu city joined. There are a total of 6 teams as follows :

Lapu Lapu City Chiefs
Cebu City Nino's
Bogo City Bogoys
Toled city Dream Team
Talisay City Aqua Stars
Danao City

Prizes are 2million, 1.5million and 1million for 1st,2nd and 3rd place respectively. This will be money in the form of financial assistance for the city's involved and is a project of Senator Manny Villar.

Sharks who joined the Lapu Lapu City Chief's (Chief's is named after Chief Lapu Lapu who killed Magellan ) are - Butchoy, Hey, Art Art, Baguio, Allan (assistant coach).

So far the sharks are 6wins and 1loss. It is a double round robin and home and away format.

Next game is this saturday January 5 7pm at the Danao City sports complex. We are all going there. 4pm building. 5pm danao nata sugod na tagay!

Second Fight was a straight out brawl. Ryan (no shirt) vs Bido (yellow shorts). Ryan had to stop in the second round.

Third fight - Hey Falcon (black jogging pants) vs Art Art - nice fight!

Hey vs Art Art

Fourth Fight - Ading vs Bong - The best fight ever! Bong gets pounded but during the break after round 1 he was advised by his corner to go to the body (since ading just had an operation!) and so he did. Watch ading get hit twice after he gives up!

One liners

Well, after 5 months in retirement and finally coming back to watch the CFFL superbowl for the first time, i can only describe it in one line...

Lots of Fun and memories which shall never be forgotten.

We went there to cheer for our ex sharks teammates. However, they did come up short and the Rebels won. The game brought out the analysts in us and before you knew it, we were analysizing the why's and the how's of the ongoing game. The kind of stuff that every football player would do back when we were still playing.

Going to the post game party and awarding brought back memories. Everything was perfect until one line was blurted out...

Habolan naman mo.

Hmmmm... Needless to say... During our playing years ( 3 to be exact ); never did I condone nor flaunt this type of attitude. We got through by being humble. Every accomplishment was played down. Every person met was told that we got lucky. And after 3 years of the same shit I can sum it up in one line...

We got tired of winning.

But for some (1 in particular) who have won for the first time, I can sum it up in one line too...

Nabaghuan.

Upon your request, we had every intention of helping the rebels out for Team Cebu as you take on the more experienced manila teams. After all, we have been in 3 nationals against them. But habolan naman me. So that throws that idea out the window.

We the sharks made a pact when we decided (in tears and in laughter) to retire. We would come out of retirement if and when our record shall be broken. And for this, I have 3 lines...

1 threepeat
1 undefeated repeat
1 national championship

Complete this. And when you do, text me. And we shall see each other on the field... Habolan or Ha-it. Anytime. Anywhere.

Again.

SHARKS
"born to kill, engineered to destory"

P.S. Forget all the other titles... it just makes it harder.

Hey guys! Looong time no hear... We will be having our first inter barkada boxing tournament tentatively scheduled on December 16, 2007. 1PM to 5PM. The fight date is 2 months away to give extra time for boxers to train for their opponent. There will be an exploratory meeting to discuss opponents and mechanics on October 24, 2007 at the Lapu Lapu City Basketball court 8PM.

The fight will be held at Jams Fitness Center since they have a regulation sized ring. Head gear and boxing gloves will be provided on the day of the fight. There will be official Judges and an official Referee. Referee's are instructed to stop the punching and rule it a knockdown if a fighter is clearly at a disadvantage and is being hit continuously without showing any form of defense. The fighter's safety is our first concern. 3 rounds with 2 minute rounds each. There will also be an official coach and trainer for both fighters during the fight.

All fighters will be split up into two teams (blue team and red team). An overall winner will also be declared depending on which team has the most number of wins. Fighters will consist of Members from the Sharks, Lapu Lapu City Hall and LaserArt. All ex members of the sharks are welcome to join.

For training, there will be a punching bag, gloves and head gear in Radaza Plaza's 3rd Floor area which fighters can use at any time. We will schedule team trainings so teams can train together. Ex... Blue team on Teusdays and Red team on Thursdays.

Fighters will be split up according to weight classes, capability and overall physical fitness. Weigh in will be conducted on the day of the fight. Winners will be given a plaque or a trophy during the awarding. ALL FIGHTS WILL BE VIDEO TAPED. The video of the fights will be replayed during our awarding at 8pm of the same day of the fight. End Zones: Very Important

Just like to remind everyone that the entire field is measured at 100 yards. Each endzone is at 10 yards. So if you would like to make a touchdown, make sure you cross the whole 80 yards and enter the 10-yard end zone. Do not let the lines fool you.

We may celebrate only AFTER it has been confirmed. Let's just have that cleared up. hehe

If in doubt, run the netire field til a touchdown is pronounced.;P

Let us not embarrass ourselves.

Goodluck on the next game, guys!

Track anyone using their Cell phone !

Type in the mobile number of ANYONE and it will tell you on the satellite map where they are EXACTLY. Up to 10feet accuracy even!

Works anywhere in the world! Even here in Cebu Philippines! Use it as often as you can, coz I'm sure pretty soon they will start charging for their service.

I used it today to locate where my driver was exactly!

New Recruit for Sharkies

Hi Sharks/Sharkettes,
Above pic is our latest new recruit for the Sharkies. His recruiter is me: Coach (Lolo) Paul. He will be playing linebacker (he already has the linebacker wide-eyed stare, don't you think?), and no, his eyes aren't always like that, only just before the ball is snapped... hahah. His name is Lucas Cage Payne (nice name for a linebacker.... "payne" = "pain"). He is 4 months old and he will be playing for the Sharks in 2025... hahah.

Well, I am finally posting to our site after all this time. This letter/post should have come a while ago. First of all, I want to thank you all for accepting me into the "Family". You have made me feel very welcome. I hope that I have been of some help to those of you who desired or needed the help. I am here for "all" of you and if I cannot answer a question that you may have.... then I will try my best to get an answer for you. I am also here to offer you alternate choices of how to perform tasks that relate to the position that you are playing and for the good of the team as a whole. The information that I offer is in no way criticism, I am just offering a different way to go about a certain task. All I ask is that you give it fair try, and after that, it is your choice as to which way you feel is better, or which way you feel more comfortable. I hope that we continue to feel and display the kindness and mutual respect toward one another that teammates and "friends" deserve. I think of you all as my friends as well and I hope that I am more than just a "coach/teammate" to you all.

Harry...THANKS SO MUCH for the opportunity. As I said before, you are the lifeblood of theses teams. If I have helped you and the members of the Sharks/Sharkettes (even if it is only in the smallest way) then I feel it is "truly" worthwhile.

Congrats to everyone on the National Championships.

Famous Football Quote:
"If my mother put on a helmet and shoulder pads and a uniform that wasn't the same as the one I was wearing, I'd run over her if she was in my way. And I love my mother."
Quoted from: Bo Jackson, former NFL (Raiders) running back who also played pro baseball the same years he played pro football.

Hi D'Wall. Be safe over there and God bless. The National Championship is yours also, we know you were there in mind and spirit. Does Harry have your mailing address?

Sean.... Congrats to you man. We know you worked hard for that... now we expect u to take care of everyone's injuries.... hahah!!
