Congratulations to both the Dark Angels and Pyroworks Rebels for winning the 2008 PFFL Nationals.
It was a fun day for everyone who showed up. First off were the Rogues vs the Dark Angels for the womens championships. Before kick off it was obvious that everyone was somewhat jittery and tense just looking at the rogues who seemed much bigger and more athletic than their counterparts. However, half way through the first half, it seemed obvious that the Cebu team clearly was above and beyond the talent level of the rogues and it was an easy win for the Dark Angels to claim their first National crown. With the way they are practicing and the way they are handled I am sure that is just the first of many national championships for them.
The rebels and the young guns was a totally different story. With the Young Guns experience and track record, it seemed that the Rebels were severely outclassed. However, the Rebels showed that they wanted it more. They struck first with a 40 yard touchdown pass by Kyle (after receiving a lateral) to YomYom. The back breaker turned out to be a Safety by the Pyro defense. The Guns did, however, still have a chance to win the game at the last few seconds but the Rebel defense came through to deliver the National Championship. Kudos to Brian and the Rebels for making Cebu proud.
And so it has been 2 years now that Both Mens and Womens teams from Cebu have held the National Titles. It seems that after a 6+ year head start for the PFFL, the CFFL has finally brought it's talent and skill levels at par with Manila!
